The 2018 total Bering Sea arrowtooth allocation is 13,398 mt. As of the most recent National Marine Fisheries Service reporting week of April 28, only 734 mt has been harvested, with over 84% of the quota remaining. For 2017, only 49% of the total quota was harvested. Arrowtooth is generally a summer fishery. Over 62% of the 2017 catch was harvested between May and September. Despite its large biomass, arrowtooth flounder allocations have decreased recently due to allocation priorities with other species. Arrowtooth are mostly harvested on the northern Bering Sea slope, but reports from the grounds are that concentrations are increasingly difficult to find. Arrowtooth can be harvested by multiple sectors, including trawl and longline. Most are harvested by the Amendment 80 sector. This information is provided by Jason at the Alaska Seafood Report.
