Red striped snapper(Lutjanus erythropterus)with red-colored body, ispreferred cultured fish for Chinese people. It is also the main species of seacage culture in Taiwan. Fish meal is the primary protein and best source infish feeds for aquaculture. The supply of fish meal is unable to meet thedemand and the price is increasing year by year. In this study we look for thereplacement of fish meal. Animal and vegetative ingredients were added toreplace fish meal. The study was divided tree trails.
In the first trail, krill meal and vegetativeingredients were added to replace fish meal in four experimental diets toinvestigate the optimal replacement of krill meal. The results show the optimalreplacement ratio of krill meal is 10%.
In the second trail, krill meal、squid meal and vegetativeingredients were added to replace fish meal in six experimental diets. Sixexperimental diets were divided four low fish meal diets and two non- fish mealdiets. After six weeks of feeding, two groups fed diets without fish meal showbad growth with the lowest weight gain and feed efficiency.
In the third trail, krill meal and vegetativeingredients were added to replace fish meal in diets of red striped snapper andreduce fish meal to 17%. In this trail, the results show 17% of fish meal islimited in diet of red striped snapper .
